High School Placement

MCS gave me a core set of values that I will take with me through the rest of my life and use to guide my decision making. It has given me a sense of what’s right and wrong and taught me how to tackle things that are difficult. It has given me a second family and a home away from home.
MCS students gain admission to high schools that are well-matched to their strengths and priorities—very often their first choice selections. Our alumni attend a variety of schools throughout New York City and the surrounding areas.
 
The high school placement process begins in the 7th grade when parents meet with our High School Placement Director. The director works with students and families throughout the application and selection process. High School admissions directors often describe MCS students as bright, dynamic, having a strong sense of self, and passionate advocates for social justice.
 
In addition to the scheduled meetings below, we also provide opportunities throughout the year for families to meet one-on-one with our High School Placement Director and for students to participate in mock interviews and receive written and verbal feedback.

  • High School Information Night & Alumni Panel for 7th Grade Families in December
  • Small Group Kick-off Meetings with Families in the Spring
  • Individual Follow-up Meetings with Families in the Spring & Summer

The High School Placement Director implements a holistic approach to ensure that all families receive the attention, degree of advocacy, and strong support necessary for every student.
