City Camp is MCS’ summer program for children in the 4-5s through 9-10s, including new Lower School students joining the school in the fall. Through City Camp students broaden their MCS experience by being immersed in fun and engaging activities aligned with the school’s mission and values.
When is City Camp?
City Camp runs for three weeks in July, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. See the MCS calendar for this summer’s dates.
What will kids do at City Camp?
Three days per week, City Camp will use MCS classrooms and rooftop garden, a local pool and Central Park to provide enriching activities. Kids will attend classes including movement, visual arts, gardening and a city class dedicated to helping kids to develop a deeper connection with New York City. Two days per week, City Campers will go on trips to explore the city. Past trip destinations have included the Bronx Zoo, Museum of Natural History, Staten Island Ferry, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, National Museum of the American Indian, Museum of the Moving Image and Hall of Science.
Who works at City Camp?
City Camp is run by co-directors Shani Brignolle (MCS' fifth-grade teacher) and Karen Zaidberg (MCS' sixth-grade teacher), and staffed with additional MCS teachers who know the Lower School kids well.
What is the cost of City Camp?
Those who registered for City Camp 2016: before April 1 - $1,300 for all three weeks; $450 for individual weeks. After April 1 - $1,500 for three weeks or $500 for individual weeks.
How do I register my child for City Camp?
City Camp applications will be available in January and will be distributed to parents via Nuestra Semana at that time.
