held to honor the slain civil rights leader and raise awareness about today's civil rights issues.

Manhattan Country School kids are super aware under any circumstances. One teacher described them as super saturated with the news today. There is palpable empathy for the targets of bias attacks, and renewed understanding of complex emotional, intellectual and activist responses in our homes, neighborhoods and across the world. 2017 MLK March
More than 350 people gathered at New York City’s Riverside Church on Monday to kick off Manhattan Country School’s 29th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative March. Organized by the school’s eighth-graders, this event is one way the MCS community honors the slain civil rights leader who served as an inspiration for the school's founding. Read more
Backstrap weaving
Backstrap weaving is an ancient fiber art practiced for centuries in Central and South America and China. Weaving has historically been a way for artists to communicate feelings and tell stories with the use of patterns and symbols. It’s also a time-honored tradition for fifth-grade students at the Manhattan Country School Farm. Read more
Immunization
One of the beautiful things about Magnus is that you will only need to update your child’s immunizations when new immunizations are due! You do not need to re-submit your child’s full vaccine history each year. Read more
Meeting notes
This month's Parents' Council meeting was held on January 12. Most of our time was spent discussing events and activities that will help bring our parent body together and help everyone feel informed and involved. Many of you attended the previous Parent-Led Forum where we screened the film "13th;" we hope you will return to our proximate forum scheduled for February 2. The theme will be transgender allyship and what that means for our school. Read more
The Manhattan Country School Parents' Association invites you to participate in “Trans-Allyship in the MCS Community,” a Parent-Led Forum. The event will be held on Thursday, February 2 at 7 p.m. and will feature a panel discussion followed by a conversation about gender and our children. Read more
