MCS Upper School Students Show Off Their Creativity During Spirit Week

Friday, February 17, 2017

This week, Manhattan Country School's Upper School students celebrated Spirit Week. During this annual event students are encouraged to participate in themed dress-up days. The schedule for this year's Spirit Week was:

  • Monday: Wear as Many Shirts or Hats as You Can Day (Bonus points for having the most items in your pockets)
  • Tuesday: Mirror Day (Dress the same as someone else)
  • Wednesday: 70s/80s Day
  • Thursday: Dress Like a Teacher Day
  • Friday: Napping Day

In addition to the dress-up activities the week featured several challenges, including:

  • Find the spirit wand using the information from each day’s clue
  • Answer trivia questions about presidents each morning
  • Find paper hearts hidden on the upper floors on Valentine’s Day
  • Write a letter to an elected official about a cause you care about
  • Work together to design a perfect spot for napping

Spirit Day was started about eight years ago as a means of fostering student engagement. The week’s activities offer a fun way for students to hone their creativity and problem-solving skills. See how the students celebrate Spirit Week in the images below.
