Testing Requirements

The Educational Records Bureau (ERB) test is only required for applicants entering 7-8s (second grade) through eighth grade. For younger children, the ERB is not required. If your child is younger than a second-grader and takes the ERB, results should not be sent to Manhattan Country School.

Parents or guardians of children entering second through eighth grade should make arrangements to take the appropriate grade-level test by calling ERB at (212) 672-9800 or visiting erbtest.org.

The Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) and ERB have joined together to provide financial assistance for ERB admissions testing fees for families with demonstrated need applying for the 2017-2018 academic year. The fee reduction will cover only a portion of the test fee and is only applicable for the ECAA for second through fourth grades and for the ISEE for fifth grade and up. To discuss the possibility of receiving a testing fee reduction, please contact the admissions office at (212) 348-0952.
